About Memorial Regional

Memorial Regional Medical Center opened its doors in 1998 to serve residents of Hanover and Henrico Counties, rural Virginia’s Northern Neck, and the City of Richmond. Today, Memorial Regional enjoys the services of more than 1,000 physicians, supported by nearly 3,000 full and part time employees in a state-of-the-art, 225 licensed bed, not-for-profit facility.

Every opportunity to volunteer is a valuable contribution to our community. It's more than just stuffing envelopes or answering the phone; you are touching our patients’ lives. A friendly smile and a kind word are a part of providing Good Help to Those in Need.®

Our Requirements

  • Must be 15 years or older.
  • Weekend and evening hours available.
  • Adult volunteer’s minimum time commitment is one four-hour shift per week.
  • Student Volunteer Program available for High School and College students.
  • 8 week Summer Student Program (June 11th thru August 3rd).
    Summer Student Program applications are due no later than May 25th.

  • Auxiliary Events
  • Concierge Desks (Main and MOB1)
  • General Services
  • Gift Shop Associate
  • Patient Care Partner in Emergency Department (must be over 18)
  • Patient Safety Companion
  • Patient Units - Patient/Visitor Support
  • Pet Therapy Volunteers (requires additional certification)
  • Spiritual Care Partner
  • Sunshine Committee
  • Surgical Center Concierge

How to Become a Volunteer

We are excited about your interest in volunteering and hope to make the process as simple as possible.

  • Complete and submit the online application.
  • Bon Secours completes two reference checks: reference check forms will be given to the applicant at initial interview. 
  • Applicant completes 2 step TB testing.
  • Applicant completes annual flu shot requirement.
  • Bon Secours conducts a Criminal Background Check (for applicants 18+).
  • Volunteer receives training and schedule..
