On Monday, July 30, 2018, First Lady Yumi Hogan visited Bon Secours Baltimore Health System where she saw firsthand the impact of Bon Secours’ innovative programming on the residents of West Baltimore. Over the last two years, Bon Secours has benefited significantly from C.O.R.E. funding provided by the Governor’s office, including a $300,000 grant for neighborhood beautification that the organization received this year.
During her visit, the First Lady learned about the projects being funded by the State and met with residents who live in the community. While touring Bon Secours’ Community Works, she also learned about its workforce development programs such as Clean & Green and the returning citizens’ initiative; toured its hoop house and urban farm; visited the early head start classroom; and saw the affordable housing options available to residents and Bon Secours’ plans to expand its reach in the community.
